Can exclusive jewelry be affordable? What do you think?
Let me explain
I hadn't heard of such jewelry until I did some research before even starting the whole Rosabrillo thing. Prior to that, I knew only pricy solid gold, diamonds, or cheap, not very long-lasting jewelry. And then..
I stumbled upon the type of jewelry that had it all. It was beautiful, made of precious metals such as gold and silver, and had a surprisingly good price tag. And just like that, I was introduced to it.
I am VERMEIL. GOLD VERMEIL.
It's not James Bond, agent 007, but there are some numbers involved - 925, 10 and 2.5. Please hold on for one more minute. I promise to make those hieroglyphs clear for you.
925 as Sterling Silver
Imagine if silver were a big pizza with 1000 slices. Most of it, precisely 925 very soft slices, would be pure silver, and the rest would be other metals to make the pizza stronger. That's what 925 sterling silver is - mostly pure silver with a little bit of something else (often copper) to make it tougher for jewelry.
10 as 10 karat Gold
Imagine if you mixed together 10 big scoops of gold and 14 scoops of other metals like copper and silver in a cooking pot. When you stir them all up, you get 10 karat gold! It's not all pure gold, that is 24 karat and very soft, but it's got enough to make it special.
A micron, or a micrometer, is a length unit equal to 1/1000 (one-thousandth of a millimeter). To give you a better idea, human hair is roughly 50 to 70 microns thick, making 2.5 microns thinner in comparison.
What is the Gold Vermeil?
Gold Vermeil is silver covered with a thick layer of gold at least 2.5 microns thick and made from at least 10-karat gold. In comparison regular gold-plated jewelry usually has only 0.5 micron-thick gold layer.

In comparison, Rosabrillo Gold Vermeil jewelry has a multiple thicker gold plating, than regular gold plated pieces, so it lasts longer shining. This gold plating includes 2 layers:
- 3 microns thick layer of 18 karat Rose Gold - Rose gold is an alloy consisting of pure gold, copper, and possibly other metals, giving it a subtle pink hue.
- 0,1 microns thick layer of 23 karat gold at the top for even more durability.
Have you ever heard of Gold Vermeil Jewelry? Do you own it? Let me know.
